Oregon State Fair Top your Hot Dog Contest Winner: Paul Ingraham's Fresh Pear Slaw Dog!

At this summer's Oregon State Fair, Barhyte Specialty Foods, along with Roxy Dawgs, teamed up to sponsor a super fun hot dog topping contest. Roxy Dawgs provided the hot dogs and buns (both great quality!) while we sent each participant a sampling of any six Saucy Mama or Suzie's products. The contestants worked on their recipes at home and brought in their finalist to the Creative Living Stage. They were judged live on stage by Curtis Fisher, owner of Roxy Dawgs. Barhyte supplied the top three winners with beautiful gift baskets. 

Pictured here is Paul Ingraham, the first place (or should we say "blue ribbon"!) winner. His fresh pear slaw recipe was refreshing on such a warm day at the fair and the crunch was such a nice bonus on top of the hot dog.

Fresh Pear Slaw Dog

Serve on top of your favorite hot dogs or sausages! 

Ingredients:

1/2 cup mayonnaise
2 Tbsp. Saucy Mama Apricot Ginger Mustard
2 Tbsp. Saucy Mama Champagne Honey Mustard
2 Tbsp. Saucy Mama Jamaican Jerk Wing Sauce 
1 tsp. celery seed
1/4 cabbage head, shredded
2 ripe pears, quartered and julienned
1/2 cup corn kernels, drained
1/2 cup cucumber, diced
1/2 cup tomato, diced
1/4 cup cilantro, chopped
1 Tbsp. bell peppers, orange and yellow, diced
1 tsp. green onions, chopped  

Directions:

In one container, add mayo, mustards, sauce and celery seed. Mix together until well blended and set aside. 

In another container, mix together cabbage, pear, corn, tomato, cucumber and cilantro. Pour in sauce from first container and mix well. 

Place a couple tablespoons of pear slaw on top of each hot dog and garnish with bell peppers and green onions.
